The Flatmates
Language Point 6: Illness
When you're ill, you can describe your symptoms (changes in your body which show that you're ill) in the following ways:
You can use have got + ache (when it forms part of a compound noun) with only 5 parts of the body:
I've got (a)
backache
She’s got (a) stomach-ache
He’s got a headache
You’ve got (an) earache
He's got (a) toothache
Note: All of these aches except headache are usually uncountable in British English so you don't use a or an with them. In American English, all these aches are countable so you use a or an with them.
You can use hurt/ache (verb) with any part of the body:
My leg hurts
Her ankle
His stomach aches
Everything
His stomach
My toes hurt
His hands ache
You can use sore (adjective) with any part of the body:
I’ve got arm
She’ got a sore leg
He’s got toe
You've got head
You can use pain (noun) with any part of the body:
I feel my leg
She’s got a pain in her stomach
He has his toe
You can use be or feel + ill/sick/unwell (adjective) or
feel + awful (adjective) to talk about your health in general:
I feel
ill
He feels
awful
I'm sick
She’s unwell
We’re not well
Vocabulary:
Morning, campers! (informal greeting to more than one person): Good morning!
My head's killing me (idiom): I've got a very bad headache
A hangover (n): A headache from drinking a lot of alcohol
A fry-up (n, informal): A meal made of fried foods (fried egg, mushrooms, bacon etc)
To burn the midnight oil (idiom): To study or work until late at night
Who's for...? (offer, informal): Who wants...?
You're a pain in the neck (idiom): You're very annoying

PRINCIPLES
principles that tell how you can receive the gift of God for your life.
1. God Loves You!
The Bible says, "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life"
The problem is that
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. All of us have done, said or thought things that are wrong. This is called sin, and our sins have separated us from God.
The Bible says “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” God is perfect and holy, and our sins separate us from God forever. The Bible says “The wages of sin is death.”
The good news is that, about 2,000 years ago,
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins.
Jesus is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life and then died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. “God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.”
Jesus rose from the dead and now He lives in heaven with God His Father. He offers us the gift of eternal life -- of living forever with Him in heaven if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by Me."
God reaches out in love to you and wants you to be His child. "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe on His name." You can choose to ask Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and come in to your life as your Lord and Savior.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. If you want to accept Christ as Savior and turn from your sins, you can ask Him to be your Savior and Lord by praying a prayer like this:
"Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life. I ask you in to my life and heart to be my Lord and Savior. I want to serve you always."

EASTER
Jesus and Easter
What is the meaning of Easter?
Easter is the day when we celebrate Jesus Christ rising from the dead. Jesus is the Son of God and gave His life to die for our sins. On the third day after He died -- the day we now celebrate as Easter Sunday -- His friends went to His grave, and found that He had risen from the dead. They saw an angel who told them, "Don't be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn't here! He has been raised from the dead, just as He said it would happen."
Jesus rose from the dead on Easter Sunday; now He offers to you the gift of eternal life and forgiveness of sins. This is the true story of Easter, and how it can change your life. Here are 4 principles that tell how you can receive the gift of God for your life.

THOUGHT
Srength is born in the deep silence of long suffering hearts; not amid joy.
I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish humble tasks as though they were great and noble.
There are two freedoms- the false, where a man is free to do what he likes; the true, where a man is free to do what he ought.
ACT QUICKLY, THINK SLOWLY
Brothers, don't forget that it is best to listen much, speak little, and not become angry.
What you do when you don't have to, determines what you will be when you can no longer help it.
When you are rightly related to God, you cannot begin to imagine the marvelous things He will do through you.

VALENTINE'S DAY, FEB. 14
Love & Relationship
Love is the only answer to the question of human existence. It is the feeling that unites hearts and souls. Life would be meaningless, if love wouldn't exist. It is a feeling that gives many of us a reason to live. Love may sometimes seem to be life's most intense emotion, which is difficult to track. Sometimes, you may become clueless about whether love is controlled by the heart or the feeling itself has occupied your mind and soul! When you are at this situation and are in search of an answer, just think about what how much love is vital in your relationship.
Any relationship in the world, be it between a couple, siblings or friends, will be incomplete if there was no love in it. It is love only that enables us to sacrifice for our loved ones - to revel in their happiness and be sad when they are in pain. Just think what the relationship between parents and their children would be, if there was no love in it. Would the mother still be willing to give her all, for her child? In other worlds, there never has been, not there will be, any meaningful relationship without love in it. It is the 'be all and end all' of our existence.

THINK ABOUT THIS
DO NOT FEAR TOMORROW, GOD IS ALREADY THERE.
KEEP TRYING. IT'S ONLY FROM THE VALLEY THAT THE MOUNTAIN SEEMS SO HIGH.
COURAGE is when you do what you have to do though people don't think you can. COURAGE is when you think you can't do something, but you do it.Adam McCord(TEENAGER PARALYZED IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT)

A visitor from Holland was chatting with his American friend and was jokingly explaining about red, white and blue in the Netherlands flag.
"Our flag symbolizes our taxes", he said. "We get red when we talk about them, white when we get our tax bill, and blue after we pay them".
"That's the same with us", the American said, "only we see stars, too."

Text: The Hungry Cat
Tim: I don’t believe it! Kitty's just eaten my dinner. I was putting the kettle on and I turned round and there she was, eating my chicken. That cat’s a pain in the neck.
Alice: Oh calm down.
Tim: It drives me mad! I’m starving, I’ve been slaving away in that dusty old stockroom all day. I hate work just now and then this happens! The cat’s got to go or be put down.
Helen: Don’t be horrible. You can buy something else to eat.
Tim: We're not all as rich as you, you know, daddy's girl!
Helen: How dare you Tim! I didn’t eat your chicken. You drive me up the wall sometimes.
Alice: Hey guys, chill out.
